Teaser from the movie "The Hebron Mission" (Rona Segal)
Idpa, one of the most important festivals in the documentary world, will be held as every year next month.
But this time, of course, it will not be in a physical format in Amsterdam, but in a virtual format.
In recent days, the names of the films that will be screened at a world premiere at the festival have been published, including several short films made in Israel - for example, "The Hebron Mission" by journalist and filmmaker Rona Segal, who wrote the excellent screenplay for "Six Times".
The film presents disturbing testimonies of six former combat soldiers, some of whom have just been discharged, who did their service in Hebron.
It also interviews Dean Issacharoff, the Nahal officer whose testimony as part of "Breaking the Silence" had already caused a stir at the time, and he is now adding additional layers to it.
"You're just waiting for a chance to shoot," says one of the discharged soldiers in an excerpt from the film, which was first revealed here ahead of the screening.
"At first I hated the fact that I fired rubber bullets at children," adds another.
"And then after that, we'd already give fun like that - 'What a king, you hit,'" and after that comes real-time documentation of a protester being shot, with the soldiers responding, "Snatched a bull in the ass, beauty."
The film was directed by Rona Segal, produced by Idit Kliger, edited by Ayelet Ofarim and shot by Itai Marom.
