Shortly before the election, no easing of the corona situation in the United States is foreseeable. On the contrary: In the past 24 hours, a new bitter high has been reached.

The White House has just published a list of the alleged successes from Donald Trump's four-year reign.

The document of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy states, among other things: "Victory against the Covid-19 pandemic".

With a view to the current infection numbers, this statement can probably pass as fiction.

A few days before the US presidential election, a record number of new infections with the coronavirus was recorded in the country.

As the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore announced on Thursday (local time), 91,295 new cases of infection were recorded within 24 hours.

This was the first time that the threshold of 90,000 new infections was broken within one day.

The Reuters news agency also reported more than 91,000 cases within 24 hours, citing its own calculations.

The previous highest daily value worldwide was 97,894 new infections and was determined on September 17th in India.

Most recently, the new virus spread rapidly, especially in the north and midwest of the USA.

The total number of recorded cases of infection in the United States has now increased to 8.94 million, according to the university.

In absolute terms, the US is the most affected country in the world by the pandemic.

A new lockdown is out of the question for Trump

Despite the escalating situation, the US President is ruling out new, far-reaching restrictions on public life in the USA.

"We will never do a lockdown again," announced Trump on Thursday at a campaign appearance in Tampa, Florida.

He also made explicit reference to the restrictions announced in Germany and France.

Trump also says he doesn't think much of masks as protection against the virus.

Anthony Fauci, the president's most important virus advisor and probably the most prominent member of the so-called Corona task force, also knows this.

This has spoken out in favor of a national mask requirement.

"If it works, we should do it, yes," Fauci said in an interview with CNBC.

But he doesn't think it will happen at the federal level because "it may not come from the White House".

The virus expert's drastic warning

Fauci's task force warned on Thursday that the virus could spread unchecked.

"We are in a very difficult situation. We are going in the wrong direction," said Fauci on Thursday.

He continued: "If things don't change and develop in this direction, there will be a lot of pain in this country in terms of the number of cases and hospital occupancy."

The White House has now captured the bizarre success report.

Communications director Alyssa Farah recently stated that the paper was "poorly worded".

They just wanted to say that a victory against the virus was the declared goal of the incumbent president.

And we're on the right track.
