The November shutdown has Germany firmly under control.

At the same time, the number of infections in the population is rising steadily.

This is also noticeable in German teaching institutions.

According to a newspaper report, the number of schoolchildren infected with the coronavirus in Germany has increased significantly.

As the "Bild" newspaper reported in its Wednesday edition, citing the German Teachers' Association, there are currently more than 300,000 schoolchildren in Corona quarantine.

At the end of September there were still around 50,000.

The number of teachers in quarantine is currently up to 30,000.

The result is more and more school closings, said teacher association president Heinz-Peter Meidinger of the newspaper: "We are now experiencing a salami lockdown in schools."

By that he meant the gradual closure of more and more schools.

The CDU member of the Bundestag and Hamburg CDU regional chief Christoph Ploß called on the state governments to take more safety precautions at schools.

He told the "Bild": "A continuous salami lockdown, which leads to great uncertainty for families, must not exist."

Therefore, all classrooms should be equipped with ventilation systems and Plexiglas partitions as soon as possible.

At the beginning of November, 165 schools nationwide were completely closed.

The federal government's shutdown strategy aimed to keep schools and kindergartens open.

Federal plan: parents should be able to continue to work

Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Prime Ministers justified the decision for face-to-face lessons with the fact that they did not want to put the families under stress again by looking after the children, as in the spring.

The parents should be able to continue working.

Apparently, it was weighed up what can be expected of the citizens and what not.

But with a view to the infection rate, this decision currently raises questions.

Researchers have been discussing the risk of school operations and children and young people in the pandemic for some time.

It has not been conclusively clarified whether children are less likely to be infected with the virus.

However, some research had indicated it.

One reason could be a receptor through which the virus enters the body and which is not often present in children.
