Find in the Utah desert: "That was about the strangest thing I've seen in all my years of flying"

According to the authorities, the crew of a helicopter found an unusual metal monolith in a remote area of the US state of Utah.
The helicopter helped count sheep in southeastern Utah on Wednesday when crew members saw the object and landed nearby for closer inspection, the state's public safety agency announced on Monday (local time).
Photos show the column in the middle of a red rock landscape characteristic of the region.
"That was about the strangest thing I've seen in all my years of flying," pilot Bret Hutchings told local broadcaster KSL.

Chance find: "Whoa, whoa, whoa, turn around, turn around!"

According to Hutchings, the biologist on board who was in charge of counting the sheep was the first to spot the object: “He said, 'Whoa, whoa, whoa, turn around, turn around!
That thing is over there - we have to see it! '"
Location unclear
The object is about three to three and a half meters high, according to Hutchings.
The origin is unclear.
There is already speculation on the internet.
Hutchings could imagine that the monolith might have been installed by a New Wave artist or a fan of the science fiction film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
In the film, black, cuboid monoliths appear that were created by an invisible alien species.
The public safety authority jokingly writes that it is illegal to install objects or works of art on state-administered land without permission, "no matter what planet you come from."
The agency also drew attention to the find on Instagram and collected information: “Inquisitive minds want to know what the hell that is.
Does somebody has any idea?"
There is no information on the exact location of the property.
The aim is to prevent people from getting lost while visiting the remote place and then having to be rescued, according to the authority.
