Since November 13, three wolves have escaped from a refuge in Frontenay-Rohan-Rohan, in Deux-Sèvres.

Canines are wanted by the gendarmerie and agents of the French Biodiversity Office.

This new attack could be the work of two wolves, two-year-old males, still at large.

The third was fatally struck by a vehicle in Charente-Maritime on November 18.

The first wolf attack took place on November 16 in Saint-Saturnin-du-Bois, a town in Charente-Maritime, near Deux-Sèvres.

Ten sheep were killed.

The French Biodiversity Office has confirmed that the attack was indeed made by a large canine.

Surveillance cameras and traps have been set up to try to capture predators.

But, the days pass and the hunt for wolves is more and more difficult.

Wolves could be slaughtered

The National Federation of Farmers' Unions (FNSEA) in Charente-Maritime asked “

public authorities to assume their responsibilities.

The wolf is a protected species, but these wolves born in captivity in a breeding, can be slaughtered if it is deemed necessary.

"

We do not consider that we will recover them alive whatever happens"

, explained to France Bleu the chief of staff of the prefecture of Deux-Sèvres.

This is a hypothesis that is posed by the wolf plan procedure.

After a certain period of time, in the event of an event, shooting other than defensive is considered. "
