More than 1.5 million deaths worldwide
The pandemic has killed more than 1.5 million people around the world since the end of December 2019, for nearly 65 million cases, according to a count made by AFP from reports provided by the authorities on Thursday. December 3.

United States
is the country with the most deaths since the start of the pandemic (276,088).

, the virus killed 326 in hospital in 24 hours, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 54,140 deaths.
2,257,331 cases have been confirmed, or 12,696 more than the previous day's assessment.
8,614 people were hospitalized over the last seven days, including 1,204 in intensive care.
New restrictions
The governor of
California
(United States) announced Thursday that non-essential gatherings and activities will be banned in all areas where the pandemic is likely to overwhelm hospital services.

, François Legault, announced that he was overturning his decision to allow Quebecers to gather for four days at Christmas, citing the sharp increase in Covid-19 cases in this Canadian province.
