Following Shirvit's attack, cyber expert warns of attacks in the digital space on the economy • "Information security costs are enormous - only large companies can bear them"

One of Israel's top cyber experts estimates that in the event of an Iranian or other hostile attack on servers and businesses in Israel, 75 percent of the sites will be damaged and many damages will be inflicted on many small and medium-sized businesses and businesses.

"Serious security products cost a lot of money. This means that in the event of a comprehensive attack for information theft and damage to sites, we see a lot of small and medium-sized entities being hit really hard. These businesses do not have the ability to self-fund security

In fact there is no such thing as complete protection, one can break into anywhere if one invests time and money in it.

Cyber attack is built on a lot of details and also on human engineering.

It's enough that you catch a small weakness in an employee or even an outside contractor so that you can penetrate. "

As mentioned yesterday, the group of hackers known as "Black Shadow" continued to leak additional documents of the insurance company Shirbit, after on Friday the insurance company refused to pay the ransom they demanded to be transferred.

The hackers published hundreds of documents, most of them insurance policies of the company's customers, medical information of plaintiffs and various documents, including details of bank accounts and photocopies of identity cards.

Yesterday morning, several credit details were also published, including a photocopy of a credit card, along with a photocopy of the ID card of the cardholder.

From the documents leaked over the weekend, it is clear that the hackers do not really filter the documents they publish, since along with confidential documents were also published various advertisements for Shirbit promotions (some distributed as an advertisement), photos of company employees at events, and branch lists of various companies.

In a brief and laconic statement yesterday morning, the hackers threatened: "Shirbit - this is the end", but did not make any new demands or new threats to the insurance company.

Like yesterday, the new documents were published yesterday around 10:00 in the morning, and the hackers even took care to "stick" in the chat the recurring threat in their correspondence with a Shirbit representative published in "Israel Today": "We keep our word."

Shirbit: "This is no ordinary attempt at extortion"

Meanwhile, the company published a response to the current information leak at noon and wrote: "This morning, blackshadow published additional messages of cyber terrorism, threats and extortion against the insurance company Shirbit. Later, information was published on the Telegram network regarding a relatively small number of the company's customers, most of them technical documents , Garage care summaries, driver's licenses, IDs and partial information on two credit cards one expired and the other revoked.

"Shirbit has hired the best cyber and security experts in the country, and works in transparency and full coordination with national cyber authorities and other government agencies. The company takes care of its customers, whose details have been published on the Telegram network, and thanks the public for the trust and many reinforcements it receives from all sides.

"According to expert estimates, this is not an ordinary cyber extortion attempt, one whose entire purpose is financial, but a cyber event whose real purpose is to embarrass the company and through it embarrass the entire Israeli economy. Accordingly, the company acts with discretion and close consultation with competent authorities, including the cyber authority. National and the Capital Market Division of the Ministry of Finance, out of responsibility and commitment first and foremost to the company's customers, and out of seeing their own good and the good of the economy and the state.

"It is important to emphasize: the decision not to succumb to extortion does not stem from financial consideration! The opposite is true."
