Excerpt from the "Rehearsals" series of Here 11, starring Erez Driggs, Yevgenia Dudina and Gila Almagor as Minister of Culture (here 11)

Not everyone loves theater.

It can be long, heavy, tall, and actors do not always sound like people talk to each other in reality.

On the other hand, surprisingly, almost everyone loves "rehearsals" - a rare television consensus in Israel.

Maybe because she lacks all the features below: her episodes are short, bursting with laughter, and touching mainly because the relationships between the characters seem so real.

And so, without tanks and without the Mossad, DIP or FMTA, and with a modest but captivating ensemble, the corporation's best series since its airing actually comes from the Mishkan Theater.

There is already talk of many things: the national infatuation with Noa Koller, which in recent years has not stopped publishing series that boast about it;

About the crazy chemistry with Erez Driggs, the man and the hair, the breakthrough of the year and in general;

For the brilliant script and the sharp punches ("His name is Bad. He's from the Galilee").

And yet it is worth devoting formal attention to a few other names.

Steals the show, literally.

It seems to me that no less than the two stars, one of the magic of the series is actually in the supporting roles and guest appearances, for example of Yossi Segal and Rivka Gur in the theater's older actors at the end of episode 2. In the episode aired yesterday, Sarel (the wonderful Ben Yosifovich) says to Ofer. Dog, that's not terrible.

"The audience doesn't care - if you open their heart, they don't care if it's with a big key or a small key."

This cliché is very true in the story of "rehearsals."

And what is true of Yosifovich as Israel, is of course true of Yevgenia Dudina Kevera Korkin, as the director of the dictatorial and arrogant theater, who steals the play - in the full sense of the word - chapter by chapter, as having to deal with the gap between glamorous cultural image and non-economic difficulties The constraints and pragmatism involved in the Israeli cultural world, which is significantly less glittering on the inside.

In the episode that aired last night, she even had a culture minister on her head (certainly did not escape the eyes of viewers that the fictional minister, Almagor revealed in guest appearances, expressed very little interest in talking to the director working on Chekhov's play).

In this wretched kingdom, Corkin is the queen, and Israel and Carina, the frightened secretary (i.e .: "director of the artistic bureau", played by Daniel Shapira, is also excellent), are doers of it.

And when the actors are divas, the directors are crazy, the audience is grumbling and the box office is empty, she is the one who says the last word, which is usually a perfect sentence like "you are a grain but with the respect of a watermelon".

Become the alter ego of the heroes.

But beyond the plot envelope, and without expecting anything from them, the compliments reach two other voices in particular.

Mia and Ofer, who are Lake Rodberg and Itai Turgeman, gradually turned from a comedic, almost flat, comedy into captivating characters.

In a series saturated with mirrors, they are not just the actors who play the characters of the protagonists in the show, but become a real alter ego (Mia is at the same time Iris and the object of her jealousy, Ofer actually replaces Tomer as Iris' lover), and at the same time get fat and meat in each episode. something new.

And it would not have worked if Rodberg and Turgeman had not done such a wonderful job.

Maybe because no one saw it coming, Rodberg's performance is nothing short of thrilling.

Rodberg has a resume in the theater, but she is associated with telenovelas and youth series, and modeling in general.

In a role that corresponds with her image as such, she also manages to laugh at that image - but also at the viewers who do not give her credit.

Turgeman, for his part, also builds a much more round figure than Ofer sees at the beginning of the series - a not-quite-baked dress chaser.

Both actors return love to a script that believes in their characters, and in all the other hurtful characters that fill it.

Four more episodes will have "rehearsals" coming to the end of the season, and at this point it is not known if she will return for a second season.

Even now the feeling is that it's over too quickly, and the characters are far from exhausted.

Even if pops and pops do not end this season together, we would be very happy if the theatrical cliché that the show must continue comes true here.
