A young man was seriously injured by bullets on Friday evening, in a sensitive city of Montpellier, after trying to escape a police check.
He was transferred to the CHU Lapeyronnie and his vital prognosis would no longer be engaged, according to the departmental direction of public security (DDSP), confirming information from the regional daily Midi Libre.
According to police sources, CRS had been thrown by stones around 6 p.m., at the entrance to the sensitive city of Petit-Bard.
It was then that it was decided to set up a more complete system at the entrance to the district to control the application of the curfew from 8 p.m.
Around 9 p.m., during this operation carried out by a CRS company from Carcassonne, the young man, in a vehicle, would have bypassed the first police screening, failing to run over a first agent.
He would then have continued without stopping towards the chicane set up about sixty meters further with two CRS vehicles.
The young driver wanted to cross this obstacle and found himself facing two other police officers on foot, who managed to dodge it.
"They fired at the vehicle driving towards them, they were in self-defense," said the representative of the DDSP.
The injured driver was stopped a few meters away as he tried to get out of his car.
No member of the security forces was injured, either by the throwing stones or when this driver tried to force their roadblock.
The prosecution opened an investigation entrusted to the departmental security.
In the evening, tension remained high in the neighborhood, crisscrossed by the police.
