Remember the thread of the vacuum cleaner of yesteryear?

The one that got stuck in the legs of the chairs, that you had to wrap at the end of use and was too short by half a meter?

Today sounds delusional, kind of like a phone with keys, but until a decade ago it would have seemed to us like another legitimate product.

In recent years, the huge and heavy devices have been replaced by small, narrow, wireless, minimalist - but powerful - vacuum cleaners.

This revolution was started by the British manufacturer Dyson, whose name became synonymous with "wireless vacuum cleaner", but in recent years the competition has grown with Chinese companies flooding the market with competing models.

Disclosure: I have a warm corner in my heart for everything that makes my environment cleaner faster.

We recently received for review the new and upgraded Dyson model that arrived in Israel, the V11 Extra, and after a little more than a week of working with it I do not believe I will be able to return to use something that tries to match it.

What's in the box?

Our Dyson V11 Extra, courtesy of the official importer BNZ Trade, comes in its simple and easy-to-carry original box, which includes the vacuum cleaner motor itself, to which is attached a huge storage tank that can be pulled out and you will probably only need to empty once every few days.

In cases where there is a pile of slightly damp dirt or hairs on the filter you will need to clean the area manually.

The vacuum cleaner offers seven interchangeable heads that you are probably familiar with if you have used other cordless vacuum cleaners, and all of them can be mounted directly to the engine - or connected via an extension rod that makes it easier to vacuum floors or high surfaces.

The most practical head features a large, dynamic motorized brush ("Fluffy") that can rotate easily when vacuuming large rooms.

The rest of the parts are a small brush for delicate surfaces, a mini motorized thumping brush - for cleaning sofas and upholstery, a two-position accessory - for general cleaning, a narrow suction adapter for corners and a mud brush for removing stubborn dirt.

In addition, Dyson added clips for storing brushes on the extension rod itself - a simple patent that will save you the hassle of fetching a different part each time.

The most powerful there is

The device has three suction powers.

At the maximum power level (turbo), which makes you feel like the brush sticks to the floor with all the power and power and sucks every particle out of it, you can clean anything you can imagine - including flour, confetti and rice - without fear of them scattering to the sides.

Everything is carefully designed and planned, and when it comes to cleaning with the help of the rod, it is very convenient to work the alternating heads of the V11 Extra, as you can stand upright and barely tilt your hand to control the direction of the brush even under furniture.

And it has become a regular custom in our home: every time a crumb falls, the Dyson is taken out and transferred - and it changes lives.

Also, the vacuum cleaner also knows how to handle pet hairs well.

For example, with the help of the rotating brush I was able to remove the hairs of my handsome British cat completely from the sofa and his scratching tower - even with moderate suction power.

The dry leaves on the porch he sucks into the container easily and they do not get stuck inside the tube or on the sides of the brush - something other vacuum cleaners I have tried in the past have failed or had difficulty doing on the first try.

As for the carpet-tapping brush (Torque), this is no small upgrade to the older editions (V8 or V7).

You can select the intensity of the pressure of the brush on the carpet using a button (mode selector) located on the front, so if for example you have a thin carpet, this is a great solution.

And the cleanliness is just thorough.

The brush features hard nylon fibers, which have managed to penetrate deep into the carpet and remove dirt that has been forgotten there.

According to the company, the motor rotates the brush rod up to 60 times per second and pushes hard nylon fibers, including anti-static carbon fibers to trap thin dust from floors.

The device is powered by the company's own Hyperdymium engine and rotates at speeds of up to 125,000 revolutions per minute.

In addition, unlike the older models that spread an unpleasant odor when pumped, the company incorporated a completely opaque filtration system that retains 99.97% of the dust up to a size of 0.3 microns - and releases cleaner air into the room space from the filter.

Smart with a huge battery

In the package you will receive a battery that will be enough for 60 minutes of powerful work in economical mode, 45 minutes in medium mode (the most recommended in his opinion), and 15 minutes in turbo mode (MAX).

Is it enough?

Probably so, and a 60 minute battery life is a lot more than you need even if you have a really big house.

The total charging time is 4.5 hours.

You can also purchase an additional battery.

The company also incorporated technology that helps improve the extension of the duration of work by using and adjusting the correct intensity for each use automatically (without contact).

To know exactly how much pumping time you have left, you can look at the monitor at the top of the device, and select your favorite power by pressing the round button.

How do you empty the trash?

As in the previous generation, this is a mechanism that includes sliding a dedicated handle that opens the container without the need for contact and throws the dirt into the bin with force.

Tip: Do not do this too far away from the trash can, as the dust may fly to the sides.

The bottom line

If you can afford the high price, about NIS 3,190 (

for purchase

) for the Absolute version that comes with seven interchangeable heads, I can guarantee that you will no longer be able to return to the broom and that it is not similar to other vacuum cleaners you will find on the market.

I also still do not know how to explain the pleasure when all the little dirt is collected in front of my eyes into a container and leaves the floor clean.

You do not have a vacuum cleaner and you want something powerful that will stay with you for a few years?

Dyson is probably the best and highest quality option you will find.

Looking for cheaper alternatives?

You will find cheaper models, but also competing pumps that do a great job.
