Even Elon Musk recommended it: The Signal app is gaining momentum in the last week, against the background of a WhatsApp announcement that it will start transferring personal information of users to the parent company, Facebook.
The information includes mostly technical data, but users around the world fear the end for privacy on the platform and look for other alternatives.
In the past it was a telegram, but now everyone is talking about Signal which in recent years has fought for user privacy, adding features that allow for as anonymous browsing as possible.
This is a free app, where you can find recommendations from Edward Joseph Snowden, a former employee of the National Security Agency (NSA) and who became famous for leaking confidential information about the agency's surveillance programs, along with billionaire Elon Musk.

What is Signal?
It is an encrypted messaging service that enables text messages, voice calls and end-to-end encrypted video calls.
In fact, Signal does not store information about users, and the messages can only be read by the recipient, not even in the company.
Another company allows users to set that after a fixed period of time, all messages will be deleted.
The only parameter saved is the phone number, and in this matter too the company is working to encrypt.
The owner of the service is Moxie Marlinspike, an American cryptographer.
The app was developed by the Signal Fund, which was established on January 10, 2018, and one of its partners is Brian Acton, one of the founders of WhatsApp, and even invested $ 50 million in the fund.
What is the difference between Signal and WhatsApp?
Signal WhatsApp's encryption method is the same, but Facebook collects quite a bit of information such as statistics, metadata, ie what type of smartphone, the smartphone version and more.
On the face of it, this may be perceived as negligible information, but it is sensitive information that is worth quite a bit of money to Facebook, and also endangers the users themselves.
For example, WhatsApp collects the user's current location, past purchases, financial information, contacts, usage data, and more.
On Facebook, the situation is much worse and the information shared includes browsing history, search history, contacts, locations, purchases, and more.
For which devices is the application available?
The app is available for download on iOS devices (iPhones and iPads), and Android devices.
It is also supported on computers such as Windows, Mac and Linux.
From the moment of registration, you can connect to the app from anywhere and from any type of device, so you can continue to correspond even when the smartphone is off, unlike WhatsApp which still does not allow it.
The app is available for download in the app stores, and today it is ranked in first place, thanks to its rising popularity.
