The research launched on Tuesday has still given nothing.

A sailboat that left La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime) on Friday to reach the island of Oléron is still missing.

The Swansea III, a 7-meter boat, left the port of La Rochelle on Friday evening with its owner and a passenger on board.

The skipper, according to France Bleu, a 48-year-old man, lives on his boat and wanted to go and celebrate the birthday of his daughter, who lives on the island with her mother.

According to Voiles et Voiliers, a relative of the skipper gave the alert early Tuesday afternoon to the Regional Operational Center for Surveillance and Rescue (CROSS) of Etel, which is leading the search teams.

A La Cotinière SNSM star and a National Navy helicopter were sent off the coast of Oléron because the two sailors' cell phones were located at 10.58 am and 2.25 pm on Saturday off the island.

Rescuers did not find any sign of presence.

Interrupted by night, the search resumed this Wednesday morning.

The Charente 613 gendarmerie boat skirted the Oleron coast while a patrol followed the same route on land.
