The importer of Maserati to Israel today began marketing the Ghibli, its sports-saloon car in a "hybrid" version (explanation of quotes below).
In contrast to the familiar V6 Gibli, here the propulsion is entrusted with a 2.0-cylinder 4-cylinder engine with an output of 330 hp (350 in a V6). And a maximum capability of 255 km / h (compared to 5.5 seconds and 270 km / h in normal).
The place where it registers an improvement is in the declared fuel consumption which stands at 11.2 km per liter instead of the usual 9.4 liters.

So what does the electric motor name do and why is it "hybrid"?
In another race to lower the CO2 emissions of their cars, carmakers will pull every trick out of the exhaust.
In the public and industry perception, a hybrid car is a car in which two engines, gasoline and electric work side by side, but can also provide propulsion separately.
Technically, however, any equipment of a car with any electric motor - can "win" it a hybrid title, Suzuki took advantage of this loophole with the Ignis, Maserati does it with the Ghibli.
Here, a 48-volt battery enables power consumption in the car for longer periods of time when the engine is off, as well as assistance in turning the turbocharger at low rpm - as mentioned, without actual assistance in independently propelling the car as normal hybrid cars allow.
