Channel 20 will switch to channel 14 in about three months after winning a tender held by the second authority in which they competed for the channel to receive two more channels - the non-TV broadcaster in Arabic and Channel 24 (formerly called the Music Channel).
Until the unification of Channel Ten with a network, Channel 14 was used by Channel Ten.
In addition to the transition to channel 14, the channel will join the old "Idan Plus" converters and thus be able to be exposed to more viewers.
Days will tell if the move will help the channel lift its particularly low viewing figures.
On the Channel 20 website we stated that the win was determined according to the amount of money offered by each of the channels, and that the channel offered the highest amount.
The channel's presenter, Boaz Golan, wrote on Twitter that the channel offered NIS 5 million.
Golan also noted, "From now on, 'Channel 14' is supposed to be", and from this it seems that the channel's name will be changed accordingly.
Against the background of the merger of Channel 10 and the network, two years ago Channel 20 asked the Minister of Communications to switch to channel 14. A letter sent by the channel's CEO at the time, Yoram Cohen, to the Minister of Communications stated that "Allocation of channels 12-14 Expand, in order to increase, on the one hand, the viewing rates and facilitate, on the other hand, the orientation of viewers in a television environment that is similar in character.
We request that Channel 20 be moved to Channel 14, as an integral part of the collection of commercial channels. "
