Toulouse: a driver knocks down three cyclists, one dead

A 34-year-old woman overturned three cyclists on Thursday near Toulouse in several consecutive accidents.

One of them died.

She was arrested and hospitalized automatically, announces the Toulouse prosecutor's office.

This young woman "who works and lives with her parents in Tarn-et-Garonne", encountered "psychiatric difficulties", indicated the deputy prosecutor of Toulouse Francis Boyer, specifying that she had been the subject "of hospitalization by the doctor ”who auscultated her after her arrest.

According to the representative of the prosecution, it would have struck in the sector of Cépet, about thirty kilometers north of Toulouse, two of the cyclists from behind and the third from the front "by going to look for him on the opposite lane".

A gendarme used his weapon

A gendarmerie patrol which had chased this driver, then stopped to provide first aid to the victim, giving cardiac massage to this 65-year-old man who died of his injuries.

One cyclist is unharmed and the other sustained minor hip injuries.

The gendarmes who had been alerted to the first facts by a witness immediately triggered an interception device, said squadron leader Louis Boquien, commander of the Toulouse-Saint-Michel company to which the investigation was entrusted.

After being stopped at a roadblock, the young woman tried to flee by hitting a gendarmerie vehicle, thus forcing a gendarme to use his weapon without injuring her.
