Israel Space Week opens today, led by the Israeli Space Agency in the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Unlike previous years, due to the eruption of the corona the events will be broadcast live on the Space Week website.

As part of the event, students will meet the people who dream far away: Kfir Damari, founder of SPACEIL, which will send the second spacecraft "Genesis 2" to the moon;

Jessica Meyer, a NASA astronaut who has been on the International Space Station and will participate in the Artemis project, which will land the first woman on the moon; and representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education.

In addition, every evening at 17:00 there will be a series of interactive transmitters from science and space centers around the country.

The Hebrew broadcasters will be hosted by children's stars Eliana Tidhar, Tom Baum, Lee Biran, Kevin Rubin, Oded Paz and Liron Revivo, and in Arabic, Obeida Zeid.

Each day of broadcast will end with a close encounter with an astronaut, where they will share their experiences with the viewers and answer their questions.

The complete list of events during Space Week can be found on the Space Week website.

According to Shi-Li Spiegelman, Director General of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the purpose of Space Week is to increase the connection and identification of the general public in the field of space and to expand the interest and curiosity of young people in space activities promoted by the State of Israel: The Israeli Space Week in digital format through a website where a wealth of interactive activities for children in the field of space will be centralized, including live broadcasts from scientific centers around the country throughout the days of Space Week and conversations with astronauts.
