The operating system for smart TVs gets a serious facelift, with the emphasis on content • The update will soon reach all users

Google began distributing an update to its operating system for smartphones and streamers over the weekend, including a major design change.
This is a new interface that was first introduced in September for its Chromecast models - in which it also changed the name of the operating system to Google TV.
As part of the new design, Google separates from the large logos (icons) of the applications, and Google places emphasis on highlighting the content, using menus that aim to help the user be exposed to new content - based on recent views, such as Netflix or YouTube.
In the top bar, four main tabs have been added: Search - typing or using Google Assistant, a back button on the main page (Home), a new option called Discover - which will offer you content recommendations according to your searches, and Apps - where all the applications you downloaded to the operating system will appear.
The new update is available today (Sunday) for all Android TV users in the US, Australia, Canada, France and Germany, with more countries (including Israel) receiving the update in the coming weeks.
