Terrible accident in Morbihan.
Aged 22, a young woman was swept away by a wave on Friday in Ploemeur, near Lorient (Morbihan).
It was in a rocky area, says Ouest-France, when it was swept away by the blade, around 5 p.m.
Alerted, the emergency services intervened quickly, in particular using a helicopter, according to a press release from the Atlantic Maritime Prefecture.
A friend of the young woman, who was part of a group of students from the Paris region for vacation, had jumped into the water to try to recover her.
Very cold water
Once there, the emergency services manage to locate the two victims and get them out of the water.
The young man who came to the aid of his friend is taken care of at the hospital, "in a state of hypothermia", specifies the maritime prefecture of the Atlantic.
The young woman, she is declared dead about an hour after falling into the water.
The maritime prefecture specifies that the wind was force 4 on a scale of 13. The cold snap, with a lot of snow in Brittany, however cooled the water temperature.
Ouest-France specifies that an investigation has been opened to determine the precise circumstances of the accident.
