What does Elon Musk want to discuss with Vladimir Putin? And do you need the Clubhouse trend app? The request for a meeting of the Tesla boss with the Russian president raises questions - also in the Kremlin.

"Would you like to talk to me at Clubhouse?" With this question, Tesla and SpaceX boss Elon Musk turned to the official English-speaking Twitter account of the Kremlin called "President of Russia" on Saturday.

Billionaire Musk apparently wants to chat with Vladimir Putin, the world learned in the audio-only app Clubhouse, which is currently also gaining popularity in Germany.

What should it be about?

And why should the conversation take place at Clubhouse, of all places, when the two interlocutors could also use other channels?

Not clear.

"It would be a great honor to speak to you," Musk said in Russian.

Only one thing is certain: the request was accepted.

Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov spoke on Monday of a "very interesting proposal."

At the same time, he restricted that it first had to be clearer what exactly Musk had in mind.

Only then "will we react," said Peskow.

The spokesman also pointed out that Vladimir Putin does not normally use online networks.

Celebrities like clubhouse

Clubhouse is an audio platform whose users can visit digital rooms in which users can discuss or simply listen to one another.

Access to the app is only granted to those who register on a waiting list or who are invited by an existing member.

Clubhouse is given a certain touch of exclusivity.

The app also seems to have some appeal to celebrities, politicians and tech billionaires.

In addition to Elon Musk, Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg was also online at Clubhouse.

So far the app is only available for iOS devices.

Users with Android smartphones are left out until an Android version is completed.

A clubhouse appearance by Elon Musk made headlines in early February.

Musk had interviewed Vlad Tenev, the founder of the trading app Robinhood, in the app.

At the time, Tenev's company was heavily criticized in the wake of the stock market madness surrounding GameStop shares.

But he answered Elon Musk's questions.
