A man "in a situation of taking his own life" took refuge armed this Thursday morning in his vehicle in Templeuve-en-Pévèle (North), 25 km from Lille, and negotiations were started by the gendarmerie.
The man is "a lonely person, with a depressive tendency", who had first taken refuge in his home.
Alerted by the neighborhood, the emergency services could not intervene and the man returned to his vehicle, "obviously with a firearm," said the firefighters.
The gendarmerie negotiator was called to try to find a way out and restore calm, said a source within the gendarmerie. "A gunshot was heard" but there are "no injuries at this stage," she added.
