While the executive on Wednesday evoked a worrying situation in ten departments, then about fifteen Thursday morning, it is finally
twenty departments
which are now placed under surveillance.
They cover
all of Ile-de-France, the Rhône, Bouches-du-Rhône, Oise, Nord, Pas-de-Calais, Somme, Drôme, Moselle, Meurthe-et-Moselle or even the Eure-et-Loir.
In the end, nearly 25 million French people are affected.
Level of incidence around 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, share of variants, hospital pressure “close to the critical threshold” and “viral circulation which begins to seriously accelerate” presided over their designation.
These territories may be subject to
local containment measures
from the weekend of March 6 if the situation continues to deteriorate, after "consultations with elected officials", said Jean Castex, the head of government, during his press conference.

The Prime Minister also specified that the
English
variant
of the coronavirus, more contagious, "now concerns about half of people with Covid in France".
This variant, which represented less than 40% according to figures released a week ago, raises fears of an epidemic explosion because of its greater contagiousness.
On Wednesday February 24, the government spokesperson, Gabriel Attal warned about the situation, "
it is deteriorating
", he explained at the end of the Council of Ministers, and "
is very worrying in ten departments
".
While the Alpes-Maritimes and Dunkirk have imposed partial confinement for the next two weekends, the time has come for territorialized measures.
"
Some territories even impose decisions, rapid and strong measures in the face of the imminent risks before us,
" insisted Gabriel Attal.

The North, Île-de-France, Moselle and the South-East
The ten most affected departments, and which have the worst incidence rates (greater than 290 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants), according to Public Health France are the
Alpes-Maritimes
(599.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants), the
Pas- de-Calais
(352.4),
Bouches-du-Rhône
(335.2),
Seine-Saint-Denis
(317.8),
Var
(314),
Moselle
(310.8),
North
( 304),
Paris
(303.6),
Val-de-Marne
(301) and
Somme
(297).
Other departments have high incidence rates, greater than 250 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants, such as
Oise
in Hauts-de-France or
Val-d'Oise
, and
Essonne
in Île-de-France .
The west of the country has much lower incidence rates, in Brittany, New Aquitaine or Occitanie.
Among these red departments,
Pas-de-Calais
is the one which also experiences the highest hospital tension, with a filling rate of its intensive care units reaching 128%.
But this indicator is worrying in other departments, which are not in the ten previously mentioned, as in
Drôme
, where this rate reaches 138%, or in
Hautes-Alpes
, where it flirts with 150%.
The
Pas-de-Calais
also recorded in recent days an increase in hospitalizations due to Covid-19 among the most important, since the figure is nearly 50%.
The
Morbihan
, the
Corsica
, or the
Ariege
also face strong increases in hospitalizations.
In
Paris
, the average number of hospitalizations is falling.
