For the first time since 2016:
Apple took first place and overtook Samsung in smartphone sales - according to data released yesterday (Wednesday) by research firm Gartner.
According to the data, the technology giant sold almost 80 million units in the quarter - 10 million more than the same period last year.
The report also shows that smartphone sales in the last quarter of 2020 fell by 5.4%, but Apple actually saw growth, mainly thanks to the iPhone 12 series that became a hit, while the other technology giants faced a dramatic drop in sales due to the Corona outbreak, along with delays in chains Supply.
In third place is Shiomi, which recorded 33.9% sales growth, and OPPO, which enjoyed 12.9% growth (and officially arrived in Israel earlier this month). As expected, the most dramatic drop is recorded by Huawei, whose sales rate fell by 24.1% in 2020, due to the US boycott.
