The mayor of Bron - a city in the Greater Lyon metropolitan area - was assaulted as he left a meeting in favor of the integration, employment and training of young people in the Parilly district, this Wednesday at the end of the afternoon.

Jérémie Bréaud, elected LR, recounted this incident on his Facebook account.

While he was in a meeting, the municipality's car, with which he was traveling, was vandalized, to the point of requiring "the arrival of the tow truck", he said on the social network.

When he left the room, he was "the target of insults, physical threats and throwing projectiles (can, stones, pieces of wood)", he said.

"Without the presence at our side of these recognized actors of the territory, the situation could have been dramatic".

The city councilor warned that he was going to file a complaint.

This is not the first time that the mayor of Bron has been the target of intimidation.

In early January, tags threatening him with death were discovered on a construction site in the Parilly district.

A few months earlier, in October, similar threats had been found twice in the same neighborhood.

"Following a major joint Municipal Police / National Police intervention yesterday in Bron which enabled us in particular to seize large quantities of narcotics, death threats appeared", then commented the mayor.

"We hamper drug trafficking"

What to react the Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, who undertook to provide protection to the elected.

“I never saw it coming.

Maybe it will be discussed again today.

I let

(the ministry)

do its work, ”Jérémy Bréaud commented on Thursday, after these new incidents.

Death threats against the mayor - "we're going to behead you!"

»De Bron:

At my request, the prefect will take legal action and provide protection for the elected official.

Support for this mayor, as for all elected officials victims of threats.

- Gérald DARMANIN (@GDarmanin) October 22, 2020

Elected in June 2020, Mayor LR has placed his action under the sign of security, with a massive increase in the number of municipal police and the reinforced deployment of video surveillance.

“We disturb those who do not respect anything and who act with impunity.

We are hindering drug trafficking, ”he said.
