Chinese technology giant Huawei, which is under an American boycott that has cut it off almost completely from all its global carriers, has no plans to give up.
According to a report in the Reuters news agency, the company plans to produce electric cars under its brand, with first models likely to hit stores as early as the end of the year.
The publication shows that Wawi has already begun to design the electric vehicles internally and even turn to suppliers.
The CEO of the company's consumer division, Richard Hugh, who was responsible for the company's incredible rise in the smartphone world, said that the main progress of is now in electric vehicles, which will target the mass market segment, suggesting a reasonable price.
However, a spokesman for the technology giant denied the plans to develop electric cars, saying "Wawi is not a carmaker. However, through ICT (Information and Communication Technologies), we aim to provide components that will enable manufacturers to build better vehicles."
