A motorist traveled 22 kilometers in the opposite direction on the A11 motorway towards Nantes on Sunday.

Is it unconsciousness or pure stupidity?

Between the end of the weekend and returning from vacation, traffic was heavy on Sunday on the A11 motorway.

Arrival around 3:30 p.m. at the Saint-Germain-des-Prés tollbooth west of Angers (Maine-et-Loire) towards Nantes, a motorist decided to simply make a U-turn.

The driver, aged 71 and from the Angevin region, then began to drive in the direction of traffic.

Warned by motorists who had miraculously managed to avoid it, Cofiroute services, according to Ouest-France, then immediately closed the Avrillé tunnel.

With the traffic stopped, a major traffic jam was created.

At the same time, a patrol of the platoon of the departmental road safety squadron set out in pursuit of the driver.

The septuagenarian was still able to be intercepted after a journey of 22 kilometers.

Placed in custody, she simply explained that she did not want to pay the toll.
