Head of the Chancellery wants civil reserve to support state authorities
5.25 a.m.:
As a consequence of the corona pandemic, Chancellery Minister Helge Braun has proposed the creation of a civil reserve to support state authorities in crisis situations.
»We need trained helpers from the general public.
A kind of civil reserve - just like there is a military reserve, "said the CDU politician to the newspapers of the Funke media group.
The federal states currently have to cope with tasks of a magnitude that were not there before.
As an example, Braun cited contact tracking in the pandemic.

The head of the Chancellery also suggested talking about cooperation between the federal states after the end of the pandemic.
Federalism is a great asset in the pandemic, so he thinks it is completely wrong to question it.
What is needed, however, is better coordination between the countries: "When the pandemic is a bit behind us, one point has to be discussed again: How can we proceed as uniformly as possible?" Said Braun.
Italy declares the southern region of Campania a red zone
3.40 a.m.:
Italy has tightened the restrictions in several regions due to rising corona numbers.
Many schools there will be closed again from Monday, restaurants in affected areas are no longer allowed to open to guests.
The southern Italian holiday region Campania, to which Naples and the Amalfi Coast belong, is now the third region in the country with 60 million inhabitants to be a red zone with the sharpest corona barriers.
That was determined by the Ministry of Health in Rome on Friday.
So far, Basilicata in the south and the small Adriatic region of Molise are such red zones.
All schools must be in these areas.
People should as rarely as possible leave their homes.
The Italian government has been fighting the pandemic since autumn 2020 with the instrument of regional division into several color-coded risk zones.
On Monday, other areas in this system were upgraded to orange zones due to rising values.
Among them is Veneto in the north.
The neighboring Lombardy, where around ten million people live, is already in the middle risk zone.
This also applies to Tuscany and Umbria.

Health officials in the country counted almost 21,000 new infections in 24 hours on Sunday.
This means that in Italy, where the pandemic had spread since February 2020, there are so far almost 3.07 million people infected with the virus.
Günther wants to open hotels in Schleswig-Holstein over Easter

Schleswig-Holstein's Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) expects the hotels in his state to open over Easter.
"If the situation does not change dramatically, I assume that we will open hotels in Schleswig-Holstein over Easter," said Günther of the "Rheinische Post".

For a long time, Schleswig-Holstein has recorded relatively low values for the seven-day incidence in some regions compared to other federal states.
The value indicates the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within this period.
As of Monday, Schleswig-Holstein will allow regular shopping in shops again.
Museums, galleries, zoos and botanical gardens are also allowed to open.
