The Galaxy S21 Ultra (PR)

Samsung launched three Galaxy S21 models this year, while the most expensive ultra model sold today for NIS 4,450, the basic S21 model sold for a more modest price of NIS 2,850.

This is a difference of NIS 1,600, which makes Samsung's flagship smartphone more accessible in its price tag, compared to the premium model.

In the S21 model, like the other models in the series, it is not possible to find a charger, wired headphones, no 3.5 mm connection and no memory to expand. The 5th generation technology in the unit I received did not work, but Samsung Israel stated that there is a version update that allows the option This one (the only one given to me for testing is Sample).

Design: The color oval with the champagne looks great

Although not a glass body that delivers a luxurious feel, the S21 still has an elegant chic thanks to its oval color and the photo array which is wrapped in champagne color.

The body of the device is made of plastic with an aluminum frame.

The advantage of the S21 is that it weighs 169 grams and not like the ultra that comes with a heavy weight of 227 grams.

Of course there is still IP68 water protection here.

Screen: Still looks great

A significant difference between the two devices is the screen, while the Ultra comes with a 6.8-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 by 3200 pixels, here you get a smaller screen of 6.2 inches and a resolution of 1080 by 2400 pixels.

Both screens come with Gorilla Glass Victus glass and Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with an image refresh rate of 120 Hz, but as mentioned, there is a difference in resolution.

There is also a difference in the intensity of the backlight - 1,300 nits compared to 1,500 nits.

Still the backlight is good on both smartphones and the display quality, depth and sharpness look great.

Interface: Android 11 and call recording

The S21 comes with Android 11, with Samsung's shell installed above it - One UI 3.1, this allows you to record calls, view an identified call through Samsung's internal service (works very partially), easily connect to computers with the Windows operating system and use the Smart Things app For control of smart products at home (including from Android Auto in-car systems).

Also, the side screen where until now there were services like Bixby or Samsung Daily, which featured information tabs that did not help too much, were replaced by default with Samsung Free.

News center service from various information sources through Taboola.

This is a nice option, but what's nicer is the option to replace it with Google Discover which offers news updates according to your personal profile.

Hardware: Fast fingerprint scanner

Similar to the Ultra model, here too we get the Samsung home processor - Exynos 2100 with 8 GB of working memory and storage capacity of 128 GB (there is also a 256 GB version).

This smartphone is very fast and probably everything you pray for will work successfully.

The fingerprint sensor located under the screen is super fast and responds instantly, just fun to work with such a sensor.

The stereo speakers are also loud and clear, with Dolby Atmos support providing richer sound.

As always at Samsung, there is WiFi Calling support here for phone calls over the WiFi network.

This is a huge advantage that exists today mainly in Samsung, Apple and LG devices in the country.

In contrast to the ultra model, there is no support for UWB technology, which will work with Samsung's smart tag - SmartTag Plus and will allow higher accuracy in finding the product and also targeting it.

Camera: Good but not great

In the field of photography, Samsung has integrated an array of 3 sensors in the S21 and not 4 sensors as in the Ultra.

It gave up, among other things, the macro sensor, the laser focus and the 108-megapixel main sensor.

The S21 gets an array of 3 sensors: 12 megapixels with autofocus, optical stabilizer and aperture key of f / 1.8, 64 megapixel telephoto sensor that offers double hybrid zoom 3, auto focus, optical stabilizer and aperture key f / 2.0.

The additional sensor is 12 megapixels for a wide 120-degree shooting angle with f / 2.2.

All of this data provides sharp images, including great Boca performance where the background is blurred at the back.

Admittedly in indoor photography, one can feel how the image is having a hard time providing clean and fast images, so it is worth taking that into account.

The photography at night left me a little smeared and I had a hard time producing successful photos.

If a camera is the most important thing to you, you may want to invest in one of the more expensive models of the S21.

In terms of selfies, the S21 comes with a 10-megapixel sensor with auto-focus and an f / 2.2 aperture key.

Here, too, very good pictures are obtained in daylight, but in closed places the deficit appears.

There is also an option for Boca mode in selfie that worked moderately.

Battery: Insufficient battery performance

Similar to the Ultra model, here too you will not get good enough battery performance (capacity 4000 mAh), but at least those that are supposed to last you a full day.

The battery held me from eight in the morning until eleven and a half at night and I had 18% energy left (screen time 3 hours).

The device kit does not include a charger, but the device itself supports 25 watt wired charging and there is also a 15 watt wireless charging and 4.5 watt reverse wireless charging (you can charge the headphones or supply power to a friend's device).

Bottom line: a convenient price tag, but only a good camera

Bottom line, the Galaxy S21 offers a more affordable price tag than the rest of the models in the series, it has a smaller screen in high quality, which will wink at people who dislike the big monitors less. The camera is good, but not at the level of the ultra model. The device offers fast performance, a battery for an entire day and it also comes in the most beautiful color in the series - oval with champagne.

Price: NIS 2,850
