Even when most cinemas are still closed, social media is never boring.

This week, for example, rumors re-emerged that she had a hidden adult-only version of "Mrs. Doubtfire" (a hard-hitting and creepy movie anyway).

It may be an urban legend, but the fans have already launched a campaign calling for this holy grail to be brought to the screens.

In the meantime, we will have to make do with the new version of "Justice League," which hit screens this weekend.

In the United States it is shown on HBO MAX, and in Israel on HOT, Partner and yes VOD (but not on Cellcom, and of course not on Netflix).

For those unfamiliar with the saga behind the Justice League, here's a brief summary.

Zack Snyder was a Hollywood prodigy, who at the beginning of the previous decade was recruited by the DC Empire to direct the new episode of the "Superman" series and then also the film he confronted with Batman.

Afterwards, they also entrusted him with the baton of "Justice League", a summit meeting of all the heroes and superheroes of the empire, including Wonder Woman played by Gal Gadot.

As is often the case in Hollywood, the director pulled in one direction during filming and the studios in a different, commercial and lighter direction.

A personal tragedy was added to the behind-the-scenes professional intrigue: Otom, the filmmaker's daughter, died at the age of 18. As a result, he was pushed out of the project, and DC called Joss Whedon, who had previously directed Marvel's Avengers.

This time, his formula did not work, and "Justice League" was crowned as one of the worst comic books of our time.

This infamous version was far and even the opposite of the original director's vision, and in the four years since its release, his army of truth has run a vigorous social media campaign - let the world see what Snyder intended to do!

In the end, the pressure campaign was far more successful than expected.

Not only did Warner allow Snyder to use all of his cut pieces, but in an unusual move they even gave him tens of millions of dollars to shoot as many more scenes as he pleased, and reassemble the puzzle.

The result, "Justice League - Snyder Version", is a completely different film from the one that went to the cinema at the time, and also one of the longest films in the history of Hollywood - four hours and two minutes long.

Had it been released for screening and not just for streaming, a record would have been broken here.

And after all that, the plot is relatively simple.

It can be summed up like this.

On the one hand, there are the more familiar superheroes, from Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman, through Aquaman to the lesser-known Flash and Cyborg.

On the other hand, there are satanic aliens who have already destroyed tens of thousands of other parallel planets, in which you may not have to watch four-hour movies.

Now, they plan to destroy the earth as well, and for that they need three magical boxes that are on the ground.

Like the director's previous films, "Justice League - Snyder's version is characterized by pompousness - only this time everything is even more pretentious and bombastic.

Also in interviews on the occasion of his release, the director made sure to hang on tall trees, and some of his followers fed this pretentiousness and compared the film to "The Godfather" - a logical comparison like the comparison between a ton of pins and nails to a tone of whipped cream cakes.

So if there are already corny comparisons, we will use the most corny cliché of them all - most fuss about nothing.

After all the turmoil, "Justice League - Snyder's version" is not Bardak, but neither is "The Godfather" - just Dredk.

According to reporters in the film, the director asked them to make a face of the "9/11 attacks" to make sure the grief was as bombastic as possible.

Indeed, "Justice League - Snyder Version" is gloomy and dark, visually and spiritually.

Unlike most comic book hits nowadays, it also has no jokes, although here and there one of the characters from Gaza mumbles some wit.

But what is all this drama worth, if there is no depth in the film and especially no emotion?

Snyder is convinced that he is a modern incarnation of the great opera composers, but that musicians, in contrast, usually have emotional intelligence.

Even the directing display is ultimately a check without a cover.

Snyder's style claims to be expressive and groundbreaking.

In practice, the filmmaker casts his jaw on slow gears, a means of expression that he and many Hollywood directors before him stole from Asian action movies.

Not a Big Deal.

Most fuss about nothing.

There are also understandable issues.

Ben Affleck has not been and will not be a good cast as Batman, and the same is true of Henry Cavill as Superman.

Both, of course, are great actors, but not always one fits every situation, and even if the film had lasted four hundred hours, it would not have solved the problem.

Worse is the identity of their enemies.

With all the audacity and impudence he apparently has, Snyder does not dare to draw interesting arch-villains.

The bad aliens are completely generic.

Their motivation is trivial, the background story is heavenly and none of them are really threatening.

Hitchcock's famous statement goes like this: the quality of the film as the quality of its bad man.

No wonder the good superhero movies of recent years have been such thanks to those defined as their villains - "The Dark Knight" with the Joker, "The Black Panther" with Kilmunger and the recent episodes of "The Avengers" with Thanos.

All of these were reliable, powerful and convincing, and more importantly - relevant to our reality.

The "Justice League" is the opposite, so it's hard to take it seriously.

On the other hand, the film also has degrees.

Batman and Superman have a hard time picking him up, but some of the sub-characters are successful, and certainly more developed than in the previous version of "Justice League."

Gal Gadot is as excellent as ever, and the fact that we are no longer interested in it only indicates how obvious its stardust is.

Ezra Miller is also excellent in the character of the flash, and mentions what a promising actor he was before being documented attacking a woman in a pub a little over a year ago.

Not for protocol only.

Ray Fisher is the actor who suffered the most from Widon's hand in filming the other version of "Justice League," and here gets a chance to flourish and shape Cyborg as the best character in the film.

And there are also some not-so-bad action scenes, such as one that rises to the level of the "Dark Knight," allowing Wonder Woman to try to free dozens of hostages during one of the first sets.

And finally, without revealing details of course, one can also say that the ending of the film is excellent.

This is not just a post-credits scene for the protocol, but a real epilogue, shot beautifully and beautifully.

Does this epilogue also stand as a prologue of subsequent films?

probably not.

DC as a whole and most of their superheroes and superheroes have already moved on, to districts where Snyder is not involved, but at least this bottom line implies that if and when circumstances change, there may be something to work with.

Just before the four hours and two minutes end, Snyder dedicates the film to his late daughter Atom.

This sad dedication is a reminder that in the real world, outside the playground where you can revive, kill and reinvent superheroes whenever you want, there are things that cannot be returned.
