The family of a 52-year-old man, killed on February 22, question the psychiatric follow-up the suspect received, saying they learned

For one of the victim's brothers, it was an assassination that could perhaps have been avoided.

Ahmed Lahcine, brother of Sidi Hieya Lahcine, 52, cut his throat with a cutter on February 22 at the foot of his building in the Teisseire district in Grenoble, filed a complaint against X for "manslaughter" through his lawyer, Me Hervé Gerbi.

A procedure that directly targets the psychiatric hospital of Saint-Egrève (Isère) and the establishment's doctors because the person suspected of having killed him, a 57-year-old woman suffering from schizophrenia, was followed for many years afterwards. having already tried to cut his father's throat.

"We discovered that this woman was the subject of care at the request of the representative of the State (SDRE), almost for 30 years, following a violent act in the intrafamilial environment", explains Me Gerbi.

At the time of the facts, she was being followed in an open environment, outside the psychiatric hospital.

"We wonder about the follow-up of psychiatrists in the days preceding the assassination," continues the lawyer.

The very morning of the events, this woman had attended the funeral of her daughter, who died of an illness.

She must therefore be destabilized by this situation.

What means have been implemented on the medical level to support him in such circumstances?

"For him," knowing that her follow-up for years in SDRE meant that this woman could compromise the safety of people, it was therefore the role of the doctors who followed her to assess her dangerousness ".

"And such a responsibility does not stop at the doors of the hospital," he insists.

"A collateral victim of the psychiatric system"

Catherine C., who was followed in a medico-psychological center (CMP) in Grenoble dependent on the psychiatric hospital, presented herself at the police station a few days after the murder.

She then told investigators to have "obeyed voices" to kill Sidi Hieya Lahcine.

The premeditation was retained by justice.

Given her condition, Catherine C. was interned.

"His penal irresponsibility should not be in doubt", according to Me Gerbi.

Before the events, Catherine's relatives had apparently requested that her medical follow-up be suspended.

"A procedure of

raised hands

which had been rejected following divergent opinions between psychiatrists", according to the lawyer.

Which seems to demonstrate according to him that the condition of Catherine C. was always to be a problem.

The murdered man, Sidi Hieya Lahcine, was himself schizophrenic.

“But he wasn't violent.

He was kind and had a normal life.

He was also very popular in the Teisseire district.

After his death, nearly 600 people gathered to pay homage to him, ”explains, moved, his brother, Ahmed Lahcine, who also expresses his anger.

“My brother was killed in horrible conditions.

He has emptied of his blood.

How could we have left this woman to face alone, without support, the death of her daughter?

In the morning, she attended her daughter's funeral.

And at 1 p.m. she was killing my brother with a cutter.

He is a collateral victim of the psychiatric system.

This system is not good, ”said the victim's brother.

"The psychological state of this woman, destabilized by the death of her daughter, should have been an alert," says her lawyer.

In 2008, already in Grenoble, Luc Meunier, a 26-year-old student, was stabbed to death by a schizophrenic.

After ten years of legal combat, Me Gerbi, who represented the student's family, had obtained the conviction of the psychiatrist who followed the schizophrenic.

For not having sufficiently appreciated the dangerousness of his patient.

A first in France.

“Twelve years later, the lessons of this tragedy have perhaps not been learned,” notes the lawyer bitterly.
