Race to scrap old cars in exchange for new, less polluting models, even if still running on diesel or petrol: in three months the eco-bonus for 6 euros is already running out and just over 12 million of the 250 allocated for incentives remain.

The eco-incentives to buy hybrid or electric vehicles are less popular: of the additional 120 million made available for 2021 with the maneuver, a third have been booked, about 42 million.

However, this figure makes it possible for industry experts to predict that these too will sell out well before the end of the year.

According to data from the Ecobonus portal of the Ministry of Economic Development, about 238 million have been booked so far for cars with emissions between 61 and 135 grams of CO2 per km (including the latest generation of petrol or diesel), while for cars electric or hybrid, between 0 and 60 g / km, just over 42 million euros have been booked. The contributions granted for the 0-20 g / km and 21-60 g / km emission bands have been refinanced in the budget law with 120 million euros for the whole of 2021, bringing the total funds to 390 million. The incentives amount for the 0-20 g / km category to € 6,000 with scrapping and € 4,000 without scrapping; for that 21-60 g / km at 2,500 euros with scrapping and 1,500 without scrapping. The same two bands can add 2,000 euros with scrapping and 1,000 without scrapping until 31 December 2021, and in this case there is also a discount applied by the seller of at least 2,000 euros or 1,000 euros depending on whether or not the scrapping is present. The maximum discount therefore reaches, in the case of a zero-emission car, up to 10,000 euros and then goes down depending on the emissions, the dealer's discount and the presence or absence of a car to be scrapped. For traditionally fueled vehicles but still of the latest generation, the two emission bands 61-90 g / km and 91-110 g / km have been remodeled into a single 61-135 g / km band, financed with 250 million euros that went to replenish the previous fund that was exhausted. The duration of the incentive equal to 1,500 euros is six months, and it is possible to use it only with scrapping. Also in this case, a discount applied by the seller of at least 2,000 euros is added to the incentive.
