2021-04-08T15:16:48.615Z

SURVEY - More and more French people want to be vaccinated ... on condition that it is not with the British vaccine, according to an Odoxa-Backbone Consulting survey for Le Figaro.

Yes to vaccination… but not with AstraZeneca.

This is essentially the first lesson of the * Odoxa-Backbone Consulting survey for

Le Figaro

and France Info published this Thursday.

The good news is that more and more French people want to be vaccinated: they were 42% in December, they are now 70%, at a time when the government has just announced that it has kept its commitment. of 10 million first-time vaccinated in mid-April.

Only 14% of diehards persist in not wanting to be “

stung

” at all.

"

New proof that the best incentive for vaccination is, precisely, the development of vaccination and the fact that more and more people are being vaccinated around you."

», Estimates the polling institute.

Quite predictably, the intention to vaccinate is stronger in older people and therefore more at risk of developing severe forms of Covid-19: 55% of 18-24 year olds say they want to be vaccinated, compared to 84% of over 65 years old.

But not all vaccines find favor in the eyes of the French.

And not surprisingly, the AstraZeneca is less and less popular.

They are now 71% to be wary of the British vaccine.

Confidence falters over the weeks due to cases of thrombosis in several countries, which led to the suspension of vaccination with this product for several days last month.

On Wednesday, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) recognized for the first time that this vaccine could cause very rare blood problems, while ensuring that it should continue to be administered, the benefit / risk balance remaining "

positive

" .

But the damage seems done and in the field, more and more patients refuse to be injected with the product, preferring to wait for another.

They thus trust 70% that of Pfizer, 65% that of Moderna and 59% of the Janssen product, the first doses of which are expected the week of April 19 in France.

And it is undoubtedly not the exhortations of the government which will make them change their minds, since only 36% of the people questioned trust him concerning the vaccine policy.

67% do not find it effective, 68% not consistent and 77% feel that it is not carried out at a good pace.

Moreover, if the French are aware that vaccination is the only effective solution to end the pandemic

,

64% of them do not believe in President Emmanuel Macron's promise to provide an anti-Covid vaccine to all French who wish it "

by the end of the summer

".

Only 6% are convinced that it will be held, a percentage which only climbs to 14% among LREM supporters.

The acclaimed self-tests

Finally, a positive note: according to the Odoxa survey, the French very positively welcome the arrival of self-testing which will be available in pharmacies from Monday, April 12.

These nasal self-sampling tests are said to be easier and less unpleasant to use than current nasopharyngeal tests.

62% intend to use them if they need to be tested and 57% think that their generalization will be useful in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic ... even if they are 58% to think that they are not as reliable than the antigenic tests currently available in pharmacies.

Unsurprisingly, 72% of those questioned also ask that these self-tests be reimbursed by social security, and 61% would like them to be available in supermarkets.

A possibility for the moment ruled out: the Minister of Health Olivier Véran specified last week that as a "

health product

", they should be sold by health professionals able to explain their operation.

* Survey carried out on a sample of 1,004 French people interviewed online on April 7 and 8, 2021.
