The "Bridgerton" series produced by Shonda Reims (Netflix)
The announcement last Friday that Reggae-Jean Page will not return for the second season of "Bridgerton" has caught many unprepared.
Although it was known in advance that the other volumes in the book series on which the series is based deal with a different brother from the Bridgerton family - and therefore the protagonists of the first season, Daphne and Simon, will not be at the forefront this time - it was also likely that the two would return in a secondary role.
After all, the hero planned for the second season, older brother Anthony Bridgerton, was an integral part of the first season.
This will not be the case with the character of the Duke of Hastings, Simon Bast.
Reports revealed that Paige had initially signed on to participate in only one season, and the player himself said in response to Variety that part of the darkness in the role was the short-term commitment.
But within a month of being aired in late December 2020, "Bridgerton" became Netflix's most-watched series, while Paige himself became the biggest star of the series, who was even invited to host on Saturday Night Live last February and won To many praises.

Maybe in the third season?

The Hollywood Reporter now reports that Page has turned down an offer that came in retrospect - when the huge success of the series and his was already clear - to return to the second season as a guest star.
He was offered to participate in three or five episodes and earn fifty thousand dollars for each of them, but the actor refused for a number of reasons.
He is currently focused on developing his soaring film career, and is in fact already committed to other projects while the production of the second season of "Bridgerton" has begun.
In view of this, and since the character their age is no longer a major part of the series - and as mentioned from the beginning was not planned to appear beyond the first season - Page gave up the offer.
Phoebe Dinbour, who plays Daphne his wife, will nevertheless appear in the second season, being an integral part of the Bridgerton family.
Broken and heartbroken will be able to see Paige in the variety of new productions he will be participating in.
Ireland will soon begin filming long-running films of the legendary role-playing film Dungeons and Dragons, alongside Chris Payne.
Page recently finished filming the Russo Brothers' "The Gray Man" ("The Avengers: The End of the Game") for Netflix, in which he plays alongside Chris Evans, Ryan Rossling and Anna de Armes.
Also, there is always the possibility that he will return for the third season - in the production of the series and Netflix of course will be happy to see this happen.
