Reinforced quarantine measures for certain travelers arriving in France

People arriving from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, South Africa, India will have to respect a quarantine of 10 days from Saturday under penalty of a fine of 1000 to 1500 euros.


Faced with the multiplication of variants in several foreign countries, Jean Castex announced this Thursday reinforced quarantine measures for travelers coming from these destinations, from this Saturday.

Thus, from Saturday therefore,

"the system of controls will be reinforced for people arriving from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, South Africa, India"

. The list of reasons for entering French soil will be limited. In addition, a test must be carried out systematically

"on departure and on arrival"

"Each person will then be subject to a strict quarantine with a control of the police,"

said Jean Castex.

The Minister of the Interior has indeed explained that a quarantine of 10 days will be decided by prefectural decree for these travelers.

They will have to indicate the place of this isolation to the airline company before the flight and will have to

"provide proof of the existence of this place"

such as a proof of residence or a hotel reservation.

Passengers will again have to certify the existence of this place on arrival, to French customs.

Between 1000 and 1500 euros fine

During this quarantine, people will have their outings limited, between 10 a.m. and noon only.

"Outside of these hours, they may be subject to control at any time by the police on the site of this quarantine,"

said Gérald Darmanin. In case of non-compliance, they will be sanctioned with a fine ranging between 1000 and 1500 euros against 135 euros today.
