An investigation for "organized murder" was opened after the death of a man shot dead in Vaulx-en-Velin (Rhône), the Lyon prosecutor's office said on Sunday.
According to him, it would be a possible settling of scores.
"Unfavorably known to the services", the man was "found shot and wounded in an old disused housing complex" in Vaulx-en-Velin on Friday evening, around 8:30 p.m., said a police source.
He died on Saturday from his injuries, said the Lyon prosecutor's office.
A possible settlement of accounts
An investigation was opened for "organized murder and criminal association with the aim of preparing an organized crime", taking into account "the context of suspected settling of accounts", he added.
A man was in police custody Sunday afternoon as part of this investigation "without the direct participation of the respondent is established at this stage," said the prosecution.
The investigation, carried out in flagrance, was entrusted to the judicial police of Lyon.
