Now it's Ralf Ehrer's turn too.
He gets his first vaccination on Liverpooler Platz in Cologne-Chorweiler, without an appointment or registration.
Because: The district is a Corona hotspot, the incidence in Chorweiler is over 500. The city has therefore reacted and adjusted the vaccination campaign.
The people in Chorweiler have moved up in group 3 of the vaccination prioritization.
A mobile team injects them with the vaccines from Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.
This was made possible by a decree of the state government.
The state of North Rhine-Westphalia is also making 1,000 additional cans available for the first week.
To the delight of the vaccination team.
Jürgen Zastrow, Chairman of the North Rhine Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians:
“An infection focus with infection rates above 500 is a sensible reason to lift the age restriction. And that's what we do here. And people are all waiting for vaccinations, wringing their hands. "
The first 300 cans of Moderna were quickly used in Chorweiler, then there was a replenishment.
The vaccination continued until evening and continued the next day.
Jürgen Zastrow, Chairman of the North Rhine
National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians : "We have been wearing the handcuffs, so to speak, and we have taken them off and you can see what happens when we can do it the way we doctors think it is right."
Not only in Cologne, but also in other cities, some areas are more severely affected by the pandemic.
These are often parts of the city in which many people live in a confined space, often families with many children, or in which many residents have jobs that they cannot do in the home office.
All of this leads to an increased risk of infection.
The people in Chorweiler are relieved about the advance.
Derfin Tas, before her first vaccination:
“It is definitely a good thing that it can be done so quickly now that this is being set up on the move. Especially in the district in general, it is a high number when you compare that with other parts of the city. So I'm happy that things will soon go down, the numbers. "
Ralf Ehrer, after his first vaccination:
»I believe that parts of the city like here in Chorweiler certainly have more serious problems. Especially because of the tightness in small apartments, maybe even without a balcony, without a garden. The children are in homeschooling and are sitting at home and we are a bit on each other's side. And in this respect it is of course helpful if a corresponding vaccination offer is somehow made here. "
In Cologne, the project is now to be continued in other parts of the city with similar problems. Similar measures are also being discussed in other federal states.
