The soldier who accidentally killed another soldier on Wednesday at a training camp near Carcassonne (Aude) was indicted for "aggravated manslaughter" and left free.
"Judicial control is" not possible for a soldier, "said the prosecutor of the Republic of Toulouse, Dominique Alzéari.
The magistrate did not give details on why the manslaughter is qualified as "aggravated".
But he stressed that the prosecution had requested the detention of the alleged shooter.
