This follows a request made through consumer protection authorities from the 27 member countries of the ICPEN organization, of which the Consumer Protection and Fair Trade Authority in Israel is a member.

"I am pleased that the internet giants have responded to our joint demand and that of 26 other parallel authorities regarding the presentation of detailed information regarding the collection and use of consumers' personal information in their app stores. The authority also works in the international space to protect consumers, "said Adv. Michael Atlan, who is in charge of the Consumer Protection and Fair Trade Authority.

According to the organization's findings, in order to obtain information on the subject, the consumer must scroll through more than one screen and enter a link that directs the consumer to the policy on the app developer's website.

That is why 27 consumer protection authorities have teamed up and demanded that Apple and Google adjust the structure of their app stores so that app providers can provide consumers with the necessary information about using their information clearly and comprehensively on the store's main screen.

The Global Privacy Enforcement Network (GPEN), one of dozens of privacy authorities in the world that is a member of the Global Information Enforcement Network, was one of the GPEN member organizations that supported the ICPEN initiative.
