More comfort, more safety and a new way of traveling, in the name of futuristic mobility, without sacrificing the style and charismatic design that over the years has represented the secret of success for this icon.

The new Multivan is now making its debut, the first Bulli with plug-in hybrid propulsion and DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Made for the first time on a transversal modular platform (MQB), the new Bulli stands out for the advanced technology available on board while retaining the qualities that have made it a true icon in seventy years.

With the world premiere of the seventh generation of the Bulli, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is projecting itself into a new era. In this context, the Bulli offer will be divided in the future into three pillars: the Multivan range, the Transporter 6.1 and, starting from 2022, the series version of the ID.BUZZ. While waiting for the arrival of the other models in the range, Multivan is entrusted with the task of representing a real multipurpose vehicle for customers.

The new generation of the Multivan will be launched in the second half of the year. The van, up to seven seats and available in the three configurations Multivan, Life and Style, is mainly designed for the family and for sports enthusiasts, the new Bulli allows you to travel with zero local emissions thanks to the plug-in hybrid propulsion. The Multivan with plug-in hybrid drive has the additional designation eHybrid: the system output of the electric motors plus turbo petrol engine (TSI) is 218 hp / 160 kW.

Parallel to the plug-in hybrid propulsion, the front-wheel drive Multivan will be offered with two four-cylinder turbo petrol engines, developing 136 and 204 hp. Next year, the range will be completed by a four-cylinder Turbodiesel (TDI) with an output of 150 hp.

The range of assistance systems has been significantly expanded. Depending on the equipment, up to 20 systems are available. The innovative new devices also include the IQ.Drive Travel Assist, which allows semi-automated driving from 0 to 210 km / h. With the IQ.Drive Travel Assist, the new predictive automatic distance adjustment ACC (longitudinal drive) and Lane Assist (transverse drive) merge to form a new system that perfects safety on board.

The external look is innovative, while retaining the traditional stylistic features of this icon: beyond the appearance, however, the real stylistic change lies in the proportions of the new Multivan. Compared to the previous model, the basic version has become longer and wider. At the same time, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has reduced the height, this however in the face of a maximum interior height identical to the past.

The bodywork of the Multivan has not only been redesigned, but also rethought on a technical level. For example, the electrically operated tailgate, available on request, can be opened via gesture control (Easy open & close) with a simple movement of the foot. The same system is at work in combination with the sliding doors with electric opening and closing, standard starting with the Style version.

Another novelty for the Multivan are the interactive LED Matrix IQ.Light headlights, also offered on request as an alternative to the standard LED headlights. Inside, everything has been revised: starting with the dashboard, equipped as standard with Digital Cockpit and the Ready 2 Discover infotainment system.
