About a month after the global launch, the OPPO A94 5G arrived in Israel officially imported by the Runlight Group, at a price of NIS 1,649.

The Chinese manufacturer officially made its way into the domestic market last February, with the launch of the previous generation of the same smartphone - the OPPO A93.

For those who have not yet gotten to know OPPO, this is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer that is ranked fourth in the list of best-selling brands in the global cellular market thanks to low prices, with an emphasis on high-quality construction quality.

The company is part of the Chinese BBK corporation - under it are well-known brands such as Realme, OnePlus and Vivo.

So is there any point in upgrading the device and investing almost NIS 2,000 in a new smartphone?

We took the device for testing and came back with some conclusions that you really should know.

Design

The screen comes in a size of 6.43 inches - identical to the previous generation, including an AMOLED panel, in Full HD + resolution, next to a hole in the upper left side for the selfie camera.

And the first thing that stood out when I turned on the OPPO A94 5G for the first time was the high quality of the display - even though it is a modest device compared to the flagship models.

A big advantage of the device, unlike other smartphones in the cellular market, is that despite the relatively large screen, its dimensions still make it comfortable to hold.

This means you do not have to have big hands and long fingers to operate it with one hand.

Also, the smartphone looks great and also feels great in the hand, like a premium device and no less than it, when the plastic on the back of the OPPO A94 does not slip but does "absorb" fingerprints and dust.

On the other hand, it will not slip out of your hands if you use it without a cover (and we emphasize that we always recommend putting a cover to prevent damage in the event of a fall).

The device can be unlocked using an optical fingerprint scanner located below the screen (and illuminates the finger), or by face recognition.

Both sensors respond great and respond just as fast as other smartphones I have tested before.

Specification and interface

The device's performance is based on MediaTek's Dimnesity 800U processor, along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of file storage.

In practice, although this is a device with a "modest" specification compared to its competitors, we did not encounter excessive fatigue when working with applications - including opening several applications at the same time.

The smartphone also comes with a battery with a capacity of 4,310 mAh that supports fast charging with a power of 30 watts in just 48 minutes.

This is a huge advantage that is very much to consider if you are a heavy user who is connected to the charger all day.

In addition, it is important to note that the device I first charged only after more than 24 hours of use.

OPPO's user interface, known as ColorOS, is based on Android, and although it's not the clean version of the operating system, the interface looks great, the menus are neatly arranged and unloaded - something that Chinese manufacturers fall for quite a bit.

Camera

OPPO has incorporated a square photo array that includes a main sensor with a resolution of 48 megapixels - which you will need to activate in the camera settings.

The selfie camera on the front offers a resolution of 32 megapixels.

We tested the device's camera on a clear sunny day, and the results are reasonable.

You can see in the pictures that you can get good pictures out of this camera, but still with limitations of not high sharpness and colors that are not the most faithful to the original and a little too bright.

In addition, the night shots come out a little smeared and grainy.

Bottom line

The price of OPPO's A94 brings some advanced features to the low market category - and yet you will not pay more than NIS 2,000 for it.

It has a very high quality screen, hardware that allows you to enjoy fast performance, support for a fifth generation network and a reasonable camera that will not turn you into professional photographers.

Look for another device.
