Barbibai and Kish present: The ticking threatens to make Israeli politics more infantile than ever
The Economy Minister's videos throwing Ben & Jerry's and MK Dancing's ice cream trash following the abolition of filibusters come in a different context, but the essence is similar: for likes and the chance for attention, politicians are willing to fool around and treat the public as if they were dumb.

For example, Economy Minister (!) Orna Barbibai, who uploaded a ticking video in which she enters the kitchen of her home, says that she "snatched a crisis from information she heard on the radio," takes a box of Ben & Jerrys out of the refrigerator and throws it in the trash.

The video crossed the network and was broadcast on the program "Live at Night".

This is a silly video in several ways. For example, the Minister of Economy actually throws Israeli products in the trash, but perhaps if she had not been satisfied with the knowledge on the radio she might have noticed the difference between the global company decision and the opposition of the Israeli franchisee, who and his workers - Israeli industry - The garbage. But the point is different: Minister Petra has a complex economic, strategic and political issue in a casual video of a few seconds, for the likes of course and a chance for the attention that lies in the pointless gesture.
It was not the only ticking video that sparked interest yesterday. Barbibai was preceded by a ridiculous video by MK Yoav Kish, welcoming that there will be no filibusters in the Knesset this week. On Danse "by Belgian singer Stromae.
It is difficult to describe how embarrassing this happening is.
Not because of Kish's dance skills, their dignity is in place, but because it's not clear why we needed such a video from someone who was a deputy minister until recently, and because there seems to be nothing politicians will not do and there is no limit to the nonsense they are willing to demonstrate.

The contexts of the videos are different, but the essence is similar: even if a less dramatic theme was present here the whole episode, similar to Barbibai's video, Kish's dances also illustrated how much he and the incumbent minister think the public should be treated as stupid, and we deserve more than that.
But the medium is the message.
Admittedly, social networks allowed for a more direct connection between the public and its representatives, but also corrupted the discourse.
If less than 280 characters lowered the Israeli discourse to the bottom of the barrel, a format designed to spark interest through a few seconds of video leads elected officials to behave like the main audience of the social network - children;
And if Twitter has turned Israeli politics - and no less and perhaps most importantly its coverage - into an endless war of stings and subtle reactions, the ticking threatens to make it even more infantile than ever.
