With 2,241 positive cases and five deaths between July 12 and 18, Martinique entered the fourth wave of the Covid-19 epidemic with a progression of the Delta variant, according to a report from the Regional Health Agency published on Tuesday July 20.
This is the first time since the start of the epidemic that the 2,000 case mark has been crossed.
The incidence rate (number of cases over 7 days per 100,000 inhabitants) goes from 278 to 625. And the positivity rate (proportion of positive tests on all analyzes) goes from 10 to 15%.

"The Delta variant is progressing in Martinique and now concerns 9% of new cases,"
said Olivier Coudin, deputy director of the ARS.
