The new hospitalizations went from 30 at the end of June to more than 300 this week, and the entries in critical care and in intensive care went from less than 10 to more than 90 at the same period, specifies the ARS in a press release.
On Saturday, more than 130 people were hospitalized in intensive care and critical care in Occitania "
with strong pressure in the departments of Pyrénées-Orientales, Hérault, Aude and Haute-Garonne
".

The proportion of Covid patients in intensive care now exceeds 21% while our region, very touristy, is experiencing very strong non-Covid activity in intensive care,
" continues the ARS.
Occitanie currently has a little over 1,600 intensive care and critical care beds.
On the other hand, the incidence rate reached nearly 420 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (+ 41% in one week), ie “
more than eight times the alert threshold
”.
The departments most affected, the Hérault and the Pyrénées-Orientales are around 600. In this context, the ARS calls on the population "
to be extremely vigilant
" and to respect barrier gestures.
The epidemic is progressing in France
The epidemic continues to progress in France, according to the latest figures from Public Health France.
The threshold of 1000 patients in critical care was exceeded last Thursday to reach this Saturday, July 31, 1099 patients.
The number of people hospitalized has also risen slightly to 7,409 patients against 7,363 on Friday, including 467 admitted in the past 24 hours.
On the contamination side, the number of new positive cases stood at 23,471 on Saturday against 24,309 on Friday.
The positivity rate remains stable at 4.3%.
