Mars finally reveals its entrails to us. The few spasms still shaking the planet have enabled the American probe InSight, launched in 2018, to characterize its internal structure for the first time. The Seis seismometer, of French design, in fact recorded the first Martian tremors shortly after the arrival of the mission. The data has since accumulated and allowed seismologists to produce initial results on how the interior of Mars is made up.

compares Philippe Lognonné, seismologist at the Institute of Globe Physics of Paris and University. of Paris, considered the father of the Martian seismometer.
