The most determined are still present this Monday evening despite the dispersal operation undertaken by the prefecture of Isère.

According to the authorities who control the vehicles leaving the perimeter, a thousand participants are still there.

These clandestine gatherings were never authorized for security reasons.

They have been fought more by the authorities since the Covid-19 epidemic and the resulting health risk.

"About 400 vehicles left the site and were subject to checks," said the prefecture in a press release, giving rise to 70 fines mainly for consumption or trafficking of narcotics but also for a third because of traffic offenses or relating to the degradation of forest roads.

Controls will be "continued until the last participant", assured the prefecture after more than 24 hours of intervention.

Anti-Covid system deployed on site

Arrived Saturday from 10 pm, some revelers planned to stay "several days", as they had entrusted Sunday to the regional daily Dauphiné Libéré. A judicial inquiry was opened "to determine the responsibilities of the organizers," Grenoble prosecutor Eric Vaillant announced on Sunday in a joint statement with the prefect of Isère. There were still about 2,000 people on the spot Monday morning, according to a source of the gendarmerie. The firefighters of Isère therefore quickly made available to ravers still on site self-tests to detect Covid-19 and prevent the virus from spreading after the wild party.

The rave party was initially launched as a tribute to Steve Maia Caniço, who died two years ago after a controversial police operation on the day of the Fête de la Musique in Nantes.

The event was relayed on social networks as part of the “Night of the packs”.

Several other rave parties have been reported by the authorities since Saturday, with various crowds: around 1,500 people in Gironde, nearly 600 in Vendée and 800 in Normandy, without any incident being noted.
