Study

: Children with Covid-19 recovered on average after six days

4.45 a.m.:

According to a study, adolescents with Covid 19 symptoms are healthy again on average after six days. This is what British researchers report in the journal "The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health". According to their own information, the authors, who are researching at King's College in London, among other things, are providing a first broad-based study that enables findings to be made on children who are symptomatically ill with Covid-19.

The basis of the investigation were the symptoms registered by parents or other legal guardians, which were reported via the so-called ZOE Covid app after a positive test. The analysis included the disease progression of 1,734 children between the ages of 5 and 17 who tested positive for the coronavirus and showed symptoms of the disease. On average, the sick children had three symptoms - the most common were fatigue, headache and the loss of taste or smell.

It was rare for children to show symptoms for four weeks or longer after their infection - in the study, this was the case in 4.4 percent.

After eight weeks, fewer than 2 percent of the children felt symptoms.

"It is reassuring that the number of children who have long suffered from Covid-19 symptoms is very low," main author Emma Duncan is quoted in a "Lancet" release.

The authors admit that the weakness of their study was that the symptoms could not be checked or compared.

Thus, the parents' subjective assessment plays a major role.

The investigation period ran until the end of February.

It is therefore unclear whether the results can be transferred to the delta variant of the coronavirus.

This was first discovered in India and only spread from Great Britain over Europe from the spring.

US health agency issues new moratorium on evictions

03.15 a.m.:

Under pressure from the left wing of the US Democrats, the CDC health agency has issued a new moratorium on evictions from tenants.

CDC agency director Rochelle Walensky justified the step on Tuesday with a "rapid increase in infections" from the Delta variant.

The moratorium is in place until October 3rd - however, it is likely to be challenged in court.

The Supreme Court ruled in June that a moratorium can only be extended with the approval of the US Congress.

However, he said goodbye to the summer break by the end of August without agreeing on an extension.

Despite the likely challenge in court, the new moratorium gives tenants additional time, said US President Joe Biden.

Many of those affected are waiting for immediate rental aid that has already been approved to be paid out.

Bolivia reports the first case of "black

fungus

" in corona patients

3:00 a.m.:

Bolivia has reported a first case with the "black fungus" in a corona patient.

As the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday, the 42-year-old was admitted to a hospital in the city of Cochabamba at the end of July and had to undergo two operations.

The man's teeth fell out after his infection, when he was treated in the intensive care unit.

Cases of "black fungus" in corona patients had previously been identified in India, Iraq, Iran, Uruguay and Guatemala.

The Indian capital New Delhi even had to set up a special hospital department because of the rampant fungal infections.

The disease is caused by the Mucor mold.

It enters the body through breathing or skin injuries and usually affects the sinuses there.

Diabetics and people with weakened immune systems are particularly susceptible to the life-threatening fungal infection.

Politicians advise caution with a ban against unconventional thinkers

02:35:

In the debate about a possible association ban for parts of the "lateral thinkers" movement, politicians across

all parties warned

to be cautious.

"Ultimately, a ban only helps if you invalidate the crude ideologies behind it, bring as many people as possible back into the democratic discourse and thus tackle the problem at the root," said the chairwoman of the Bundestag interior committee, Andrea Lindholz (CSU), from Düsseldorf "Rheinische Post".

The protection of the constitution is observing parts of the "lateral thinking" movement nationwide, which has been mobilizing against the corona measures for a year.

The organizers were accepting or looking for connections to so-called Reich citizens, self-administrators and right-wing extremists, the Federal Ministry of the Interior announced in April.

School principals expect conflicts in schools over child vaccinations

1:15 a.m.:

The German school principals expect conflicts between teachers, parents and students due to an increase in corona vaccinations for 12 to 17-year-olds. “Of course there will be heated discussions in everyday life. The teachers have to adjust to that, «said the chairman of the General School Management Association of Germany, Gudrun Wolters-Vogeler, to the newspapers of the Funke media group. There will be "expected conflicts over the question of whether vaccinations are necessary and whether parental rights are being overlooked." In addition, there will be "debates with children who may refuse vaccinations or who absolutely want to have them." The conference of health ministers decided to offer 12 to 17-year-olds more offers for a corona vaccination.

The head of the association fears that conflicts could also arise in connection with ordered quarantines. “If there is a positive corona case in the class in the future, those who have not been double-vaccinated will have to be quarantined. The others, on the other hand, are allowed to stay in class and can continue to participate in school activities. That will create tension, ”said Wolters-Vogeler.

Clarifying which children and young people have already been vaccinated is also tricky.

They assume that the schools are not allowed to inquire about the vaccination status of individual students for legal reasons.

The teachers would have to hold back with advice on vaccination, said Wolters-Vogeler.

This is also the advice of the President of the German Teachers' Association, Heinz-Peter Meidinger.

“That is not your area of responsibility.

Ultimately, the parents have to decide for themselves after medical advice, «Meidinger told the Funke newspapers.

Ministry of Health paper: FDP accuses the government of breaking its word

12:48 a.m.:

The FDP has sharply criticized the Federal Ministry of Health's plans for further corona requirements in the next few months.

FDP Vice Wolfgang Kubicki accused the federal government of breaking a word in the "Bild" newspaper.

In terms of purpose and effect, it is tantamount to a direct vaccination requirement if the government excludes non-vaccinated people from social life.

In a report by the ministry, which was sent to the states and the Bundestag, it says that further corona requirements are necessary to contain a new large wave of infections.

Due to the advanced vaccination campaign, protective measures could be more moderate than last autumn and winter.

The report mentions the continued compliance with hygiene measures and the need to wear a medical protective mask "until spring 2022", especially in local and long-distance public transport and in retail - "for everyone, including those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered". With a view to protective measures, the ministry explains that vaccination and testing have a high probability of preventing people with a high and thus infectious viral load from entering a room. "Therefore, regardless of the incidence, from the beginning / mid-September 2021 participation in certain events throughout Germany should generally only be possible if the 3G rule (3G: vaccinated, recovered or tested) is observed." , Sports and events indoors,Big events inside and outside.

Kubicki said: “The announcement that it intends to exclude unvaccinated people from visiting restaurants in the future is the most brazen and most devastating breach of word by this federal government, which has repeatedly sworn stone and leg that there will be no compulsory vaccination in Germany.

This breach of word outweighs the disproportionate nature of this threatened vaccination requirement. "The FDP politician also raised the question of why the federal government's plan for restaurants," but not also for talk shows, CDU party conferences or company meetings "applies.

Left: Send vaccination teams to job centers

00.11 a.m.:

To give the sluggish vaccination campaign momentum again, the Left suggests sending vaccination teams to job centers and companies that do not have company doctors. After a few vaccination offers when shopping, the next step would have to be that vaccination teams come to job centers and companies, said Linke Federal Managing Director Jörg Schindler to the editorial network Germany (RND). According to Schindler, job centers could reach a large number of unemployed and precariously employed people who, according to surveys, have often not yet had the opportunity to be vaccinated.

The left-wing politician also pointed out that very few companies have company doctors.

“We have to send out mobile vaccination teams to make an offer to people in the workplace.

The companies must be obliged to grant the vaccination teams access and to release the employees for the time necessary for the vaccination, ”demanded Schindler.

The Chilean health authorities announced.

In addition, the vaccine was 86 percent effective in preventing hospitalization, 89.7 percent in preventing admission to intensive care units and 86 percent effective in preventing deaths in the population.
