The first model designed under the management of Gilles Vidal, arrived in Renault from Peugeot by the will of Luca de Meo, the electric re-edition of the iconic R 4L scheduled for 2025 will have a wagon look with 'suv' concessions (such as the height of the seats and the bodywork protections) but will show only some stylistic hints taken from the ancestor of the 1960s. This is confirmed by the drawings published by the French magazine AutoPlus which had R. Demarets reconstruct the appearance of the future electric Renault 4L (also called 4Ever) based on indiscretions from Vidal's team and other sources inside the Losanga company.

In fact, from the model launched in 1961, the characteristic grille (which in this case will include the round headlights made up of modern LED elements), the rib that defines the reliefs on the bonnet and the lateral glazing with three windows with the one closest to the tail trapezoidal.

The 4Ever will take some liberties compared to the old R4L at the rear where, even if the smooth and very vertical tailgate is found, very modern elements stand out such as the luminous signature with LEDs arranged in a connected double C and an integrated diffuser, very current and very suv style , but frankly just far from the concept of retro.

The dimensions are also different: the 3.67m of the R 4L is a reminder of the 1960s and the 'small' cars of that period. The 4Ever will grow in length and should reach 4m even surpassing the next electric R 5 which will be around 3.80m long. Convenient in the city, Renault's future battery-powered 'all-rounder' will also thrive in the countryside, thanks to a raised suspension and well-sized wheel arches. Built, like the electric re-edition of the R 5 on the CMF-BEV modular platform of the Alliance, the 4Ever will offer a 136 Hp engine and a new lithium-ion battery with NMC cathode (nickel, manganese, cobalt), a technology should promote greater range (about 400 km), better low temperature performance and less aging duringentire life cycle, all offering a higher value of the materials recovered at the end of their life.

In the Renault program, the electric re-edition of the R 4L will arrive in 2025, i.e. after the new generation of Mégane (which will be presented on 6 September, in an event before the IAA Show in Monaco where it will be one of the queens) and after the R 5 scheduled for 'beginning of 2024. It should be noted that of the 4Ever - remember that we read four ever, that is remembering the phrase' forever 'in the sound - Renault will also produce a van variant, the profile of which has been anticipated, with a raised roof and the characteristic opening above the tailgate called 'giraffone' and very useful for carrying ladders and very long objects.
