The situation of the Covid-19 epidemic is dramatic in the West Indies, with levels of contamination never seen before in France.
But it is all the regions and overseas departments that are affected by this epidemic recovery.
In Guyana, Guadeloupe and Martinique, the vaccination rate remains very low, and largely explains the current outbreak on the two islands.
Just over 20% of the population received their two doses of vaccine there.

The Delta (Indian) variant, which until then had spared these territories, is now in the majority everywhere.
According to data from Public Health France, it weighs more than 50% of contaminations in Martinique, 60% in Guyana and Reunion, and 90% in Guadeloupe and Mayotte.
The reproduction rate of the virus, the effective R, is thus particularly high in Guadeloupe, where it reaches 2.2, levels not seen since March 2020. The number of cases thus doubles every five days.
