In the days when the average size of a smartphone scratched the four inches from the bottom, six- and seven-inch tablets were a bomb of a product suitable for lying on the couch or reading lightly before bed.

In recent years smartphones have grown tremendously and their screen quality has improved indefinitely;

Yet the tablet niche is still alive and kicking.

Let's start with some dry numbers.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE has a 12.4-inch screen with a resolution of 1600 by 2560 (and pixel density of 243ppi).

Its processor - Snapdragon's Qualcomm 750G 5G, weaker than the Tab S7 +'s Snapdragon 865, but definitely delivers good performance thanks to an octa-core processor (two at 2.2 Ghz and six at 1.8 Ghz), 64 GB of memory And 4GB of RAM (there is a more luxurious version of 128 and 6 respectively).

Not an AMOLED screen but a quality one.

And a camera - what exactly is she doing here?

The screen of the S7 FE is not AMOLED as in the S7 + but its LCD TFT screen provides a high level of accuracy of colors and viewing angles in it are quite good, both from the side and when sitting outside in direct sunlight.

The screenshot is sharp and high quality and despite the pixel density is slightly lower than its older sibling (243 vs. 266), there is definitely value for money.

The cameras in the world of tablets are quite simple.

In the S7 FE you will find a main camera of 8 megapixels and a front selfie camera with a resolution of 5 megapixels.

Both have 1080p video capture at 30 fps.

But between us, who would already take a lot of pictures with a device that weighs 608 grams and measures 28 by 18 cm? This is not the most fun and uncomfortable thing even for those who visit the gym every two days.

The S7 FE is equipped with two dual speakers on each side (four speakers in total) with an AKG audio mechanism (which is supposed to filter out sound distortion and enhance the viewing and playing experience) alongside Dolby Atmos support.

The audio quality it provides is very good and also strong enough to conduct video calls and disturb those around.

The battery of the Galaxy Tab S7 FE, with a power of 10,900 milliamp-hours is quite formidable.

We used the tablet much less than our smartphone, and the main use was when they grabbed our TV until the moment we started pecking.

Charge once every three to four days or so.

Tablet as a product, point for thought

If you are not a professional who needs a tablet as a tool, know that this is due to the Achilles' heel of a tablet as a product. Until a few years ago, when the average smartphone size ranged around 3.5 - 4.5 inches, the need for a tablet as a device with a screen of 7 inches or more that would be used for watching YouTube and Netflix or some games was indeed required.

Nowadays, when the average Android device boasts a 6.5-inch screen or higher and even Apple has joined the party - the need for tablets has become much less obvious. Lest you misunderstand, it's nice to sit on the couch (or on a plane when these are more "accessible") and watch a favorite series on a tablet, especially if it has a quality screen. On the other hand, it is not easy to hold a 12.4-inch tablet over time.

The Galaxy Tab S7 FE is set to compete head-to-head on Apple's latest iPad Air (2020). It is equipped with the Android 11 operating system and Google's updated launcher works beautifully in it. By the way, the more you use the launcher, the moreIt will tailor articles and topics that really interest you.

In terms of performance, the Tab S7 FE provides the work but it depends on who is asking.

If your main use is the Internet, email and watching movies in the S7 SE certainly delivers. It also shows some signs of fatigue as soon as you turn five or six applications at a time.

If you or members of graphic heavy games enthusiasts or alternatively build it as a replacement to a laptop - would They offer you to invest a few hundred shekels more and go for the S7 + or the iPad Air - both performance monsters. The

Tab S7 SE is not supposed to replace the S7 or the S7 + but like them its pen is an excellent product and a sheer pleasure. Certainly if you need to scribble, write in handwriting or upgrade your children's drawing skills.

Samsung offers some nice features, like the option to divide the screen into three parts when each part has a different widget, and work on them all at the same time.

For example, draw in one window, watch Netflix in the second, and read sports updates on the third.

"Mandatory" feature to encourage FOMO Slash Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

As with Samsung's smartphones, here too you will find the EDGE bar on the side and those who like will enjoy.

The bottom line

The Tab S7 FE is not a premium device and is reminiscent of the concept of successful mid-range devices, the so-called Flagship killer: a device that gives most of the features of the premium model, even if they are slightly less powerful but at a much more affordable price.

If you do not need a tablet as a tool but have extra money - you will no doubt enjoy the Tab S7 FE and you will also find it useful for things you did not know you needed.
