International Hashtag Day
, a date that commemorates the anniversary since
the first
hashtag
in history was used on Twitter
in 2007
, and a special one also for
users of the network of networks
.
The idea of using the pound sign "#" to
organize related social media posts
didn't exist until product designer and internet consultant Chris Messina first proposed it on August 23, 2007.
Messina asked his Twitter followers how they would feel using this symbol for groups, and accompanied it with the first
hashtag
in history:
#barcamp
, a concept that in English means
meetings to share and learn
in open environments.
The use of these labels, as well as their reach and effectiveness, has only grown since then.
In all social networks, not just Twitter, users and brands use them to
increase interaction in a publication

hashtag
on Instagram posts of all time, 2 billion times.
In second place on the list is

used in more than 1 billion publications, and third is

This means that the typical Instagram user only tagged an average of
two of their posts with #love
, but it is by far the
most popular
hashtag
on Instagram, appearing in more than 50 percent more posts than its rival. nearest,

International Internet User Day
This August 23, in addition to the International Hashtag Day, the International Internet User Day is also celebrated, in which

The first web page was launched on August 6, 1991 on a domain that is not yet available.
However, it was a restricted access exclusively to
members of CERN
, where it was developed, although its code was released in 1993.
Almost twenty days later, the domain opened to everyone and on August 23, 1991, people outside CERN were invited to access it.
On the occasion of the commemoration of this day, each August 23 is celebrated the Internet User Day.
