From "Quiet Water" (Cannes Film Festival)
Film lovers do not have time to rest: only yesterday did the Jerusalem Festival end, and already today the international program of the Haifa Festival is published, which in the best tradition will be launched on Sukkot.
The opening film of the festival will be "Stillwater", the Oscar-winning film by Tom McCarthy on "Spotlight", which made its world premiere about two months ago at the Cannes Film Festival.
Matt Damon stars in the film as an American man who travels to Europe to fight for his daughter's innocence, who is accused of murder for no wrong in the paw. The plot is loosely based on the experiences of Amanda Knox, who came out sharply against "Quiet Water" and the way he used her story. In a happier tone, we are told that in this drama also appears Cami Cotton, who is the star of the French "10 percent", in her first major Hollywood role.
In addition, and to the Israeli competitions that have already been announced, the festival's management announced today several events that will take place there: a special screening of "Pictures from Marriage", Hagai Levy's new and talked about series, which will appear on the small screen. An Israeli premiere of the great documentary "Street Gang: How We Came to Sesame Street," which will include an online meeting with the creators of the series in Israel and the United States; And a tribute concert to the beloved Shehadeh Hanna, the composer of "The Orchestra's Visit."
In addition, there will be a special premiere screening of "Victory Picture," a film by Avi Nesher, nominated for 15 Ophir Awards. The film will be screened under the title "Breakthrough Cinema". After the screening, there will be a panel on anti-war cinema and later in the festival, the anti-war classic "Trail of Fame" by Stanley Kubrick will be screened in his honor.
Also, the festival's international menu was unveiled today.
It will include, among other things, screenings of two of the best films of the year - "Mr. Yosuke's Leadership" ("Drive My Car"), which won the screenplay and critique awards at the last Cannes Film Festival;
And "Little Mother" by Celine Shama of France, who has just won songs of praise at the prestigious Telluride Festival.

"Minari," which was nominated for six Oscars this year and won one, will also be screened;
"As Far As Possible," which had just won the Karlovy Vary Festival;
The glorious "Pigg" starring Nicholas Cage;
Paul Verhoeven's scandalous "Benedetta";
"Paul the Writer" by Paul Schroeder starring Oscar Isaac, who just a week ago made his world debut at the Venice Film Festival and won rave reviews;
And really huge classics - "Gates of Freedom", "The Double Life of Veronica" and "Harold and Maude" among others.
The festival will take place from 16 to 28 September.
